It was the first tournament for the new-look U12 Black team, after an off-season of change, but the competitiveness of the players, new coach, Alvin James, and the reactions of the fans, said it all - these boys are ready for action. The “Boys of Black and Gold” were not content on being second best. At the end of it all, it was West Pines United, who came out on top as U.S. Club Soccer - Florida Cup Champions, Southern Division.
United started the final in championship style as they controlled possession, which kept A.C. Milan Miami Elite A pinned in their half for most of the first 30 minutes. The team showed skill and tactical acumen and quickly went up 4-0 by halftime. After the break, the boys continued the frenzied pace and aggression, which made it a lot harder for Milan’s defense. With another flurry of goals, West Pines United overwhelmed A.C. Milan 7-3, to take home the championship.
This victory should act as a catalyst, which galvanizes this team further and help them as they embark on their 2011/12 campaign.
West Pines United U12 Black are: 6-2-0 and are coached by Alvin James and Errol Spence.
Congratulations Boys!
