7 Up for State Cup Round of 16
West Pines United Advances Seven Teams
* U-15 BOYS PREMIER ROLLS
* U-16 BOYS PREMIER CRUISES

A weekend of Round 2 qualification matches saw two more West Pines United teams booking their trip to the next round of State Cup games, the Round of 16 knock-out phase. Both our U-15 and U-16 boys Premier teams made short work of the opposition to join the five other WPU teams already qualified for the “Sweet 16” party scheduled for May 8-9.

Slipping on their scoring boots just in time for the big event, Henry Pedraza’s U-15 squad erupted for 11 goals in the three games played to record perfect 3-0 and 4-0 score sheets against the JYS Fury and CFU respectively. The boys had their first and only goal against when defeating IMG Academy Blue by a 4-1 margin. Their “Sweet 16” partner will be perennial South Florida rivals, Kendall Coalition. The game should be a ding-dong of an affair.

Not to be outdone by their younger club brothers, the Thomas Lemmon led U-16 boys also exploded for 9 goals in the two games played by the team. Rolling over Plant City with a 6-0 thumping, the boys produced a workmanlike effort in a 3-1 victory over CFU Red to cruise into the May party. The team gets the nod as the clear favorite to advance over Emerald Coast, their Round of 16 opponent.
