* 5 Teams To Round of 16
* 2 Teams To Round 2 Qualifier
A week after club teams captured 4 Region Cup titles, it was more good news for West Pines United as 7 of 10 teams advanced through the first round of the Florida State Cup. Five go directly to the Challenge Round of 16 on May 8-9 with the remaining two teams headed to Round 2 of the competition on April 17 and 18.
ROUND OF 16 SECOND ROUND
U-13 Boys Premier - David Cunningham U-15 Boys Premier - Henry Pedraza
U-14 Boys Premier - Richard Jobson U-16 Boys Premier - Thomas Lemmon
U-13 Girls Premier - Wayne Smith
U-14 Girls Premier - Todd Goodman
U-15 Girls Premier - Tony March
Scoring a whopping 57 goals with 7 against through 20 games played, the teams posted a combined record of 15 victories, 1 loss and 4 games ending in a stalemate. All Round of 16 teams, as well as our U-16 Boys went undefeated through the Round. The latter’s second place finish in group play means they will have to travel for Round 2 qualifying. The same scenario applies to our U-15 Boys, who also finished 2nd in group play with 2 victories and a loss.
Not making the cut were our U-18 Boys, our U-13 Gold and U-16 girls’ teams, the latter just missing out for the 2nd. place spot after posting a 1-1-1 record. Immediately following their final games, the U-13 and U-14 Boys headed to the airport for the flight to Dallas Texas, where they are presently competing in the prestigious Dallas Cup tournament.
The upcoming weeks promise to be rather hectic for WPU teams as they compete for championship honors in various tournaments around the country.
