TAMPA, FLORIDA – United Soccer Leagues announced their 2010 ’93, ’94 and ‘95/’96 boys and girls Super Y-League (SYL) Select Teams following the annual SYL ODP National Camps in Tampa, Florida. Players named to the 2010 SYL ODP Select Teams are recommended to the U.S. National Team Staff Coaches for participation in U.S. National Team Programs.
“The U.S. National Team Staff Coaches showed unprecedented interest in our boys and at least three girls,” USL’s SYL ODP Coordinator Kate Thibault said. “USSF’s Roberto Lopez spoke extensively with the SYL ODP Camp’s Technical Director Dave Clarke following the boys camp. He was pleased with the high level of play at the camp. He discussed pulling a number of players from these camps directly into the U.S. Residency Programs.”
West Pines United FC is proud to announce the following players which were selected to this prestigous team: Romario Bernard, Kiana Clarke, Melanie Monteagudo, Darren Rios, Alyssa Robinson & Gabriella Sosa. The selections of Romario Bernard and Darren Rios concluded impressive Super Y-League seasons for both players as they were instrumental in their team capturing the championship of the U13 Boy’s Super Y-League North American Finals. Bernard was also chosen to the All-Tournament team at the Super Y-League North American Finals. Melanie Monteagudo who was the leading goal-scorer in the U13 Girl's Southeast Division & the Super Y-League North American Finals, was also named to the All-Tournament team and was the youngest player selected to the Super Y-League ODP select team.
