West Pines United FC 95/96 captured the ever elusive championship trophy at the recently concluded 2011 Florida State Cup Final Four held in Auburndale, Fla at the Lake Myrtle Soccer Complex over the weekend of May 21/22, 2011. West Pines United, making their second trip to the Final Four during their past three years of eligibility, were crowned the champions by virtue of their 2-0 victory over West Florida Premier. Their impressive championship run has culminated with the team advancing to the upcoming Southern Regionals to be held on June 16-22, 2011 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Their hard fought victory also secured the team their placement for the third consectutive year into the Region III Premier League. Head Coach Todd Goodman, reflected on his team’s achievement, "This State Cup championship has been a testament to our team’s hard work & commitment over the years. This was a total team effort & we’re eighteen strong with each player contributing. The players have earned the right to hoist the trophy & they deserve all the credit. The players have positioned themselves to maximize these next two critical years of their college showcasing".
